Say What??? - Part 2
The first truth shared in this series was
Wisdom knows the God-inspired power and purpose of words.
God chose speech, words as our primary means of communication. Words convey thoughts, ideas and feelings. Words are powerful. They can
move people to action or stifle their creativity and joy. Proverbs 18:21 states, Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." KJV
What we say is bearing fruit or is manifesting or creating something in the life of the one who speaks it. Many people believe what they say to other peole only affects the one to whom it was spoken. But Proverbs 18:21 reveals that what we say not only goes forth and proceeds out of us but it also is received inwardly. This fact leads us to the second truth of this series.
Truth 2 - Understanding realizes the blessings and cursings that may result from operating within or without that wisdom. (The wisdom spoken of in Truth 1.)
When people use foul language against other people in anger and rage they feel justified. They believe they have a right to say whatever comes to mind. They believe that whatever the other person did to stir their wrath gives them license to unleash a barrage (a fast and heavy attack) of putrid (rotten, decaying, moldy, rancid) words. Understanding knows that sweet words are not only soothing to the hearer but they are blessings to the speaker.
The next time you have the urge to get a person told, keep in mind that everything that issues forth out of your mouth also is received into your own life, body and spirit.
Proverbs 16:24 shares this word of wisdom: "Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the bones."
Proverbs 16:22a "Understanding is a wellspring of life unto those who have it..."
Proverbs 17:27 He that has knowledge spares his words: and a person of understanding is of an excellent spirit."
I pray that today and everyday the words we speak bring peace, comfort and joy to others. Those same kind words will bless your life abundantly.
