The Power of Unity - Part 1

One of the ways to identify what is extremely significant in the spirit realm is to notice what the enemy seeks to systematically attack and destroy. His tactics against unity involving mankind are evident as far back as the Garden of Eden. His deception was instrumental in disrupting the unity that Adam and Eve had with each other and with God. Isaiah 14:12, Luke 10:18 and Revelation 12:7 give some insight as to the result of satan's rebellion against God and the disunity he stirred up in the heavenly realm. If the devil is bold enough to cause disunity in the heavenlies, he certainly has no qualms about creating havoc among spiritual brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, parents and children...and the list goes on. Whenever the devil is permitted to rear his ugly head, he will. As people of wisdom, we are to be aware of his tactics and fortify ourselves against them.

II Corinthians 2:10-11

10 Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Scripture warns that when we don't recognize the devil's tricks and tactics we are sucked into his web and trapped. He then has an advantage over us. As believers in the Word of God, we have been given power over the devil through Jesus Christ. (Philippians 4:13, Mark 16:17-18). We have the advantage over him through Jesus Christ. (I Peter 5:8-10)

 Philippians 4

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Mark 16:17-18

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

I Peter 5:8-10

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Some people get caught up in excessive study of the enemy as a way to learn his tactics. It is best to study God the Father, His Word and His ways. Then when something anti-God presents itself it will be easily identified. We are charged with becoming familiar with the Lord through His Word and His Spirit. If we are diligent in that, we will be prepared against the enemy's folly. We should be familiar with the Lord and aware of the enemy. The devil's tricks and tactics against unity include separation (from loved ones, friends and inspirational or uplifting activities), depression, isolation, suspicions, misunderstandings and all kinds of division.

Study the Word of God to gain strength and wisdom. Spend time with people who live God-inspired lives. Be a person who promotes unity and peace.
