The Open Door - Part 1
Colossians 4: 2-6
The Lord God opens the door but He doesn’t shove us through it. We must recognize when He presents an opportunity and be prepared to move into it. It often happens that we are being prepared, groomed and developed without even knowing it. The spirit of the Lord guides and instructs us and wants and expects us to follow by faith. If we do as He unctions, when the open door is before us we are ready to go through it.
How does He prepare us for the open door? He moves us toward more in-depth prayer. He nudges us to spend more time in His Word. He gives us small preparatory assignments. Generally, we don’t even recognize these as opportunities orchestrated by God. He sees to it that we find ourselves in situations that require His anointing and His wisdom. He helps us to become acquainted with His Presence, His Power and His Purpose and to understand the importance of walking in them faithfully.
Consistency is important. If the enemy knows he can easily get us to step outside of God’s plan for our lives, he will do it. The devil and his imps are strategic. They will tempt us to move away from the will and plan of God when it will do the most damage, have the worst impact and affect the most people.
That’s why prayer, the Word and associating with people who are like-minded and like-spirited are essential. Prayer aligns us with the will and spirit of God. The Word saturates our minds and hearts and penetrates our spirits. Therefore, minds or thoughts are harnessed and guided by the Word of God. The Word received will control our thoughts so they don’t run amuck. Our hearts or desires become one with the will of the Father. Our spirits are cleansed from the weights of the world.
